About Me

I am a writer of stories, poems, and unclassifiables tending toward the weird, uncanny, and speculative. Speculative writing is where the unknown future transforms into shimmering possibility.

My writing is informed by my experiences growing up as an immigrant in the US, and by my interests in exploring what it means to belong (and to not belong), how narrative shapes our understanding, how we internalize social power structures, and how people (re-)create and interact with their environment.

I'm a graduate of the Odyssey Writing Workshop where, for six weeks, the inestimable Jeanne Cavelos taught me more than I dreamed possible about writing in general, about writing speculative fiction, and about my own strengths as a writer.

I also earned a Bachelor's Degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin, and an Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Web Software Development.

While I may be writing more code than prose these days, there is a novel and other project in the works. Be on the look out for some interplay of programming and fiction - such as interactive and writers' tools!
